Lanzarote is often high on the lists of people wanting to get away from cooler winter weather and to a much warmer climate. With year round sunshine, endless beaches and blue skies, (as well as some rather nice wine), you can see why it is so popular. But what is the best way to see all that the island has to offer if you are short on time and without a car?
That is where a Lanzarote Island Tour comes in!

We spent 4 days in Lanzarote without a car, and explored the island with this full-day Lanzarote Island Tour and can honestly say it was a fantastic way to learn about the history of the island as well as to get the chance to see parts of the island that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
So, is this Lanzarote Island Tour right for you? We think it will be, and here is why:
Where does the one day Lanzarote Island tour start?
With this Lanzarote Island Tour there are 45, (yes 45!), different pick up options that they can get you from, mostly at hotels or bus stops. The only problem we had with our pick up point, was which bus ours was, as a couple of other tour buses came through picking up at the same bus stop, but the drivers get off and call out the names they are expecting to pick up so there is no need to worry.
How long is the Lanzarote full-day tour?
It lasts between 9 and 10 hours, which may seem like a lot, but there is a lot of the island to see! It also doesn’t feel rushed anywhere unlike other tours we have done, so we think it’s perfect.
What are the main stops on the Lanzarote Island Tour?
🚐 Pick up locations, (if you are nearer the western side of the island you will get picked up last and dropped off last)
📍 Yaiza (stop for restroom / snack break after picking everyone up)
🚐 10 minute drive
📍 El Golfo and El Lago Verde
🚐 25 minute drive
📍 Timanfaya National Park – stopping at Echadero de Los Camellos / a really informative museum, Islet Hilario, where you can learn about the volcanos and even sample food cooked with the volcanic heat, driving along the Camino Pista Rural Ruta de los Volcanoes giving you the opportunity to learn about and see the volcanoes and the surrounding landscape up close
🚐 15 minute drive
📍 Mancha Blanca (lunch stop)
🚐 10 minute drive
📍 La Geria – with a winery tour and tasting of the locally produced wine at Bodega La Geria one of the earliest harvested vineyards in the world!
🚐 20 minute drive
📍 Teguise and Haría, Valley of 1000 palms – this is more of a scenic drive from La Geria to Jameos del Agua, but the villages and palm tree filled landscapes that you drive through are beautiful.
🚐 20 minute drive
📍 Jameos del Agua – volcanic tunnels and caves turned into a stunning concert hall, restaurant and lake surrounded by beautiful gardens and amazing views to the coast.
🚐 Back to pick up points

What to bring on the one day Lanzarote Island tour
In terms of food, as the tour included lunch, (there are options to not include it as well, but we wanted to try some of the local food on offer), we only brought water and snacks with us. Other than that, be sure to bring your camera, some cash in case you want to buy anything enroute, and although it may seems strange for a generally very warm island, bring a warm layer with you – the northern coast can get very windy and therefore is much cooler than elsewhere.
Where to stay in Lanzarote for the Lanzarote Island Tour
We stayed in Puerto del Carmen during our trip to Lanzarote and would highly recommend the area. It is quiet at night, close to two different beaches, and plenty of restaurants and bars.
If you can stay in an apartment along Calle Alegranza it is a great location for easy access to the beach as well as the nearby bars and restaurants. It is also far enough away from the main ‘strip’ that it is lovely and quiet at night. We stayed at Playa Chica Place and it was perfect.
If you would rather stay in a hotel, then by far the best place to be is at Hotel Fariones. We visited the hotel so we could look around the, quite frankly, stunning grounds and for dinner. Even if you aren’t staying there just go for drinks or a meal, the hotel is beautiful inside and out.

We spent 4 days in Lanzarote, and although you could definitely spend longer on the island, with the island tour that we did we thought it was the perfect amount of time.
Can you do Lanzarote in 1 day?
You can definitely see a lot of the island in one day, (especially if you do a tour like the one above!), but you need more than one day in Lanzarote to really see the island for all its worth.
What is the best time of year to visit Lanzarote?
It can get too hot for some in the middle of the summer, even with a sea breeze, and it is often one of the busiest times of the year to visit Lanzarote, alongside the time around Christmas and New Year. Whereas the shoulder seasons in the spring and autumn have a good amount of warmth and fewer tourists. We visited in April, and even then it was hot during the day and lovely and warm in the evening / night.
What is the cheapest month to visit Lanzarote?
March or November are often the cheapest months for flights to and from Lanzarote, and with being in the shoulder seasons there will be more choice for accommodation too.
What is Lanzarote famous for?
Lanzarote is famous for a number of things, including its vast sand beaches that draw in the tourists each year, but by far the most famous things in Lanzarote are the volcano filled Timanfaya National Park and the works of Cesar Manrique, a Lanzarote born artist, which are found across the island.
Can you do a day trip from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura?
Yes! There is a 30 minute ferry between the two islands so you can easily day trip from Playa Blanca in Lanzarote to Corralejo in Fuerteventura.
Which area of Lanzarote is best?
This is subjective as to what you want from your trip to Lanzarote. We really enjoyed staying in Puerto del Carmen as it had beautiful beaches, plenty of accommodation options, enough there that we always had somewhere to eat, and it was on a main bus route to and from the airport. It also wasn’t overly busy or full of tourists, which was great, but could have been down to the time of year that we visited. If however you want a quieter location then some of the smaller towns away from the coast may be better.
What is the most lively part of Lanzarote?
There are a few more ‘lively’ parts of Lanzarote, including Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen, but just because they are lively doesn’t mean there aren’t great places to stay away from the main busy areas.
Conclusion: The Best One Day Lanzarote Island Tour
So, there you have our guide to what we think is one of the best One Day Lanzarote Island Tours that you can do. From the windswept northern coast to the volcanic national park, the wine growing region and more, this tour is the best way to see the wonderful island of Lanzarote.
